City Year Milwaukee Spring 2026 School Team Newsletters

Our AmeriCorps Members are hitting their stride as we head into the final stretch of the school year. We are thrilled to share our Spring Team Newsletters—fresh perspectives and authentic updates straight from our school teams across Milwaukee.

While the first half of the year was about laying the foundation, this quarter is about deepening impact. You’ll see the progress our students are making, the “aha” moments in the classroom, and the unwavering commitment our members bring to their service every single day.

SDHS Quarterly Newsletter: This quarter, the South Division team reached 70% of the freshman class through one-on-one data chats and has 40 students actively participating in after-school tutoring. Read on to meet the corps member who turned challenges into growth, and the teacher who stopped a classroom in its tracks with words of genuine love for her students.

Rogers Street Academy: The RSA team is supporting 27 Focus List students across math and ELA — and one second-year Team Leader is celebrating watching a studentshe’sknown since 5th gradecontinueto shine. Read on to see the relationships and consistency that make this work come alive.

Richard Kluge Creative Arts Elementary School: Meet Jelani — a first-year corps member giving up his lunch breaks to make sure his students truly understand the material. And get inspired by two students whose kindness and energy are making the whole classroom better. The Kluge team is building something special this year.

Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy: A student who joined HFCA mid-year and felt like they didn’t belong has become one of the team’s biggest success stories — and it all started with a club and a consistent caring presence. Plus, meet Love, a corps member balancing service and college courses without missing a beat.

Bradley Tech High School:: The Bradley Tech team operates like a family — and this quarter, that culture is showing up in real results: growing tutoring participation, improved student behavior, and corps members stepping into whole-class instruction. Bay View High School: From securing free Milwaukee Public Museum tickets for two teams to supporting Chess Club and D&D Club, the Bay View corps is finding creative ways to connect with students on and off the clock.
