By prioritizing and planning, you can live in Denver on your City Year stipend. The information and resources below will help you prepare for your year (or two) of service.
Your stipend
- As a City Year Denver AmeriCorps member, you will receive a stipend of $1,000 (pre-tax) every two weeks.
- Your stipend will be paid via direct deposit to your bank account every two weeks.

In addition to your stipend, you’ll also receive health insurance, access to Employee Assistance and Talkspace Therapy programs and relocation support.
Local benefits
Denver is a growing city with many benefits.
- We have a partnership with the University of Denver’s School of Social Work. An MSW student interns with City Year each year to provide direct counseling and support to our corps, as well as trainings that prepare them for their work with students.
- City Year Denver provides access to a “pantry” at our office. AmeriCorps members receive bundles of cleaning supplies, toiletries or dry goods upon request. The pantry also offers a “check-out” system to borrow large cleaning supplies, cooking supplies, or recreational items like camping gear or games.
- City Year Denver provides you with a public transportation pass. You can apply for this pass on registration day.

- As a City Year Denver AmeriCorps member, you’ll be eligible to receive SNAP benefits and food assistance through Denver county. You can apply on registration day.
- SNAP recipients receive discounted or free admission to local attractions including the zoo, botanic gardens, history museums and art museums!
- SNAP recipients are also eligible for a , which gives you access to Lyft Scooters and discounted rides.
Your student loans may be eligible for forbearance
You may be eligible to have the repayment of a qualified student loan temporarily postponed while you are serving. While a loan is in forbearance, you are not required to make payments. Learn more on AmeriCorps’ website to and how to apply.
